Composite Recycling, a Swiss innovator in composite material recycling, has been recognized at the 2025 Boat Builder Awards, held during the METSTRADE show in Amsterdam. The company, together with its partners Groupe Beneteau, Veolia, Arkema, Owens Corning and Chomarat, received the award for the Sustainability Project of the Year, a category that celebrates initiatives driving sustainability in the marine industry.
The award celebrates Composite Recycling’s pioneering technology that enables the recovery of glass fibers and resin from end-of-life boats and composite waste. This breakthrough solution addresses one of the industry’s most significant environmental challenges: the disposal of composite materials. By transforming waste into reusable resources, Composite Recycling promotes a circular economy and reduces the carbon footprint of boatbuilding.
The jury praised the project, stating:
“The finalists in this category each demonstrate encouraging and inspiring examples of how the whole industry can authentically drive sustainability objectives forward. However, the judges decided to name the latest evolution of the composite recycling initiative as this year’s winner. We already recognised one element of this circular economy model in the 2023 awards, but the ecosystem has now been completed by harnessing powerhouses in the worlds of composites and material recycling. Arguably one of the most important sustainability projects we have seen in the history of the awards.”
